Tending to Her Accolades

Before dropping her latest single, Katy Perry is making sure her past achievements are shining bright. On July 1, the 39-year-old pop star shared a video on TikTok and Instagram, giving fans a glimpse of how she maintains her accolades at home.

In the video, Perry is seen using cleaning spray and a cloth to polish five of her six Diamond awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

According to the RIAA, Perry’s singles “California Gurls,” “Roar,” “Firework,” “Dark Horse,” “Teenage Dream,” and “E.T.” have all surpassed 10 million units sold, earning Diamond status. Notably, “Teenage Dream” and “E.T.” reached this milestone just recently.

Perry captioned her cleaning video with, “just did some housecleaning this weekend hbu 💎💎💎💎💎,” humorously chewing gum as she spruced up her awards.

In the clip, she sported a washed leather jacket, shorts, a neon orange cap, and silver-painted nails, proving she’s not afraid to get a little dirty while taking care of her prized possessions.

Anticipation for “Woman’s World”

This behind-the-scenes peek comes as Perry continues to build excitement for her new single, “Woman’s World,” set to release on July 11, with its video premiering the next day.

She announced the single last month and teased the lyrics on a dress during Paris Fashion Week. “Woman’s World” will lead her upcoming sixth studio album, her first solo project since the 2020 release of “Smile.”

A Big Year for Perry

It’s been a monumental year for Perry. She recently wrapped up her final season as a judge on “American Idol,” a role she began in 2018. During the season finale in May, Perry got emotional following Abi Carter’s win, marking her last stint on the show.

In an interview on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” earlier this year, Perry hinted, “I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol. I mean, I love Idol so much.”
