Billie Eilish made a memorable impact at the 2024 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, bringing her distinctive grunge style and musical prowess to the global stage.

On Sunday, August 11, the 22-year-old Grammy-winning singer took to the stage dressed in an oversized white Ralph Lauren polo adorned with the colors of the American flag, a navy baseball cap, oversized shorts, and large boots. Her ensemble perfectly captured her signature aesthetic, blending casual comfort with a patriotic touch.

A Powerful Performance with a New Hit

Eilish performed her latest single, “Birds of a Feather,” from her recently released album Hit Me Hard and Soft. The performance was elevated by the presence of her brother and frequent collaborator, Finneas, who accompanied her on stage wearing a Ralph Lauren Team USA blazer.

Their chemistry and talent were on full display, captivating the audience during this significant event.

Venice Beach Party Concert

The closing ceremony was part of a larger Venice Beach party concert, which featured other renowned artists, including the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Snoop Dogg. Snoop, who has become an unofficial mascot of the Games due to his extensive coverage with NBC, added to the star-studded lineup.

The choice of performers, all of whom have deep connections to Los Angeles, highlighted the city’s influence on the global music scene. Eilish, born in Los Angeles, was joined by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who were formed in the city, and Snoop Dogg, who hails from nearby Long Beach.

A Well-Orchestrated Event

Variety reported that the event was coordinated by Ben Winston, a seasoned producer who has previously worked on the Grammy Awards. Winston collaborated with French producers to bring this high-energy concert to life, seamlessly blending international talent with local flair.

Eilish’s Continued Musical Success

Earlier this year, Eilish released her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, further cementing her place in the music industry.

On August 1, she and British musician Charli XCX released the music video for their remix of Charli’s song “Guess,” which features Eilish. The collaboration showcased Eilish’s versatility and continued relevance in the ever-evolving music scene.

A Star-Studded Olympics

The closing ceremony followed an equally impressive opening event on July 26, which featured performances by Lady Gaga and Céline Dion.

Gaga delivered a powerful rendition of “Mon Truc et Plumes,” while Dion moved audiences with “Hymne à L’amour” from the Eiffel Tower. Dion’s performance was particularly poignant, marking her first major appearance since revealing her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis in December 2022.
