Katy Perry is officially back and ready to “pop off” this summer! The 39-year-old “Firework” singer has announced her new single “Woman’s World,” set for release on July 11, with the accompanying music video dropping on July 12.

This highly anticipated track marks the first single from her upcoming sixth studio album, details of which are yet to be revealed.

A Return After a Hiatus

“Woman’s World” is Perry’s first new music since her fifth studio album, Smile, was released in 2020. To build excitement ahead of the release, Perry shared a snippet of the “sexy” track on TikTok and Instagram.

In the video, she lip-syncs to the lyrics, “sexy, confident/so intelligent/she is heaven sent/so soft, so strong,” while wearing a white mesh bikini and metal boots, which are also featured in the artwork for the new single.

Emotional Farewell to American Idol

The announcement of Perry’s new single follows her emotional farewell on the season 22 finale of American Idol on May 19. The “Teenage Dream” singer hugged her fellow judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie as the season’s champion, Abi Carter, performed Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?”

In February, Perry officially announced on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that season 22 would be her last as a judge on American Idol. “I love Idol so much,” Perry told Kimmel. “It’s connected me with the heart of America, but I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat.”

Seven Seasons on Idol

Perry joined American Idol as a judge in 2018 when the show was revived on ABC, staying on for seven seasons alongside Bryan, 47, and Richie, 74. She confirmed that her fellow judges were aware of her upcoming departure and that she had plans for the year. “They figure I’ve been in the studio for a while so they figured something is coming,” she explained. “I love the show so much but I wanna go and see the world and maybe bring new music.”

Excitement for New Music

Fans can now pre-save and pre-order “Woman’s World,” eagerly anticipating Perry’s return to the music scene and the new era she is about to embark upon. With her new single and a fresh outlook, Katy Perry is set to make a significant impact this summer.
