Dressed in his signature leather jacket and gloves, Cruise’s arrival was perfectly timed with a live performance by HER, who was jamming on an electric guitar.

The Handover to Los Angeles

Cruise’s dramatic stunt was part of the official handover to Los Angeles, the host city for the 2028 Olympics. In a pre-recorded film that aired during the ceremony, Cruise was seen journeying through Paris before heading to the US, where he made his way to the iconic Hollywood sign and unfurled the Olympic colors.

This cinematic moment marked a formal “au revoir” from Paris as the city passed the Olympic torch to LA.

A Sensational Paris Games

International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach praised the Paris Games in his closing speech, calling them “sensational.” He commended the athletes for their “simply amazing” performances, highlighting the unity and respect they demonstrated, even in the face of global conflicts.

As Cruise performed his stunt, HER delivered a powerful rendition of the US national anthem, followed by an energetic performance on her electric guitar.

The spectacle continued as Cruise took the Olympic flag from American gymnast Simone Biles, one of the standout stars of the Paris Games, before zipping away on a motorbike.

The ceremony also featured a pre-recorded clip of Cruise’s journey to LA, soundtracked by the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who later performed their classic hit “Can’t Stop” live on a palm-fringed beach in Los Angeles.
