Southern California experienced steady showers early Sunday, contributing to recent rainfall totals across the region.

According to Rose Schoenfeld, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Oxnard, most of Los Angeles County received between a quarter of an inch to an inch of rain over the last three days.

Foothill communities like Pasadena recorded slightly higher rainfall at 1.34 inches.

Windy Conditions Expected

In addition to the light rain, wind gusts of up to 35 mph or 40 mph are expected across the region, particularly in coastal areas such as Malibu, Santa Monica, or Manhattan Beach, as well as in the deserts.

Temperature Outlook

Temperatures are forecasted to remain in the low 60s for L.A. County, with a gradual warming trend expected throughout the week. By Friday, temperatures are anticipated to reach the low 70s.

Road Conditions and Mudslide Monitoring

Caltrans reported that the current rain did not affect state highways and freeways in Los Angeles or Ventura counties.

However, Caltrans is still monitoring a mudslide in Santa Paula, which closed a two-mile stretch of State Route 150 nearly two weeks ago. The agency expects to begin removing material from that route by mid-March.

Upcoming Rainfall

Southern California is expected to experience another round of rain late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

However, meteorologist Rose Schoenfeld noted that rainfall totals are expected to be relatively low, with the system not posing a significant threat.

Intense Weather in Sierra Nevada

Meanwhile, the Sierra Nevada region is facing more severe weather conditions, including a rare blizzard warning extended through Monday morning for the Lake Tahoe area and until Sunday night for the Mammoth Mountain area.

Key roads to Mammoth Mountain from Southern California and to the northern Tahoe area from Sacramento and Reno remained closed Sunday morning.
