An alarming incident unfolded around midnight when a Metro bus on Line 2 was hijacked at gunpoint, according to officials from Metro. The male suspect compelled the driver to navigate to various locations, resulting in multiple collisions.

Chaos Unfolds

As captured on surveillance footage, one collision occurred as the bus disregarded a red light while traversing West 11th Street and South Grand Avenue. A vehicle traveling through the intersection collided with the bus, potentially obstructed by another bus in the adjacent lane.

Impact on Ritz-Carlton Hotel

Continuing its tumultuous journey, the bus collided with the side of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel at West Olympic Boulevard and Georgia Street. The force of the impact caused the bus to partially breach the hotel’s wall, reportedly damaging a vault inside.

Injuries Reported

Fortunately, no passengers were aboard the bus during the hijacking ordeal. However, the bus driver and another individual sustained injuries during the collisions and were transported to a local hospital. 

Both are reported to be in stable condition, as confirmed by Metro officials.

The incident underscores the gravity of safety concerns and the unpredictable nature of public transportation, highlighting the importance of security measures to safeguard passengers and operators alike.
