Dua Lipa made a triumphant debut as a headline performer at Glastonbury, delivering a dynamic and ambitious performance on the Pyramid Stage.

Kicking off shortly after 10 pm, her set was a non-stop hit parade, opening with a flawless sequence of “Training Season,” “One Kiss,” “Illusion,” “Break My Heart,” and “Levitating.” Each song featured breathless choreography, maintaining an electrifying pace throughout the night.

A Night of Hits and Highlights

Over the course of the evening, Dua Lipa performed 15 top 40 hits, including fan favorites like “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical,” and “New Rules.”

She also treated the audience to her collaborations with Elton John (“Cold Heart”) and Mark Ronson (“Electricity”). Despite the overwhelming success of her recent hit “Dance The Night” from the Barbie soundtrack, it was relegated to a video interlude during one of her five costume changes, rather than being performed live.

Powerful Vocal Performance

Dua’s raspy mezzo-soprano voice resonated through the warm Somerset air, especially on the dramatic ballad “Happy For You” and the sensuous “Houdini,” which closed her set.

She paid homage to Shakespear’s Sister, one of Glastonbury’s first-ever female headliners in 1992, by wearing a t-shirt featuring the cover of their album Hormonally Yours.

A Dream Realized

On stage, Dua frequently expressed how she had manifested this moment, sharing that she had dreamed of headlining Glastonbury even before recording her first album.

Reflecting on her journey, she recounted playing one of her first gigs to just ten people who attended only for the free drinks, and contrasted it with the nearly 100,000 fans who watched her at Glastonbury, stretching all the way back to Rowmead.

A Polished Yet Joyful Performance

Dua’s set was meticulously crafted, with every song polished and every vocal harmonized.

Despite the precision, the performance was anything but sterile. A standout moment came when she ran down to the barriers to join the crowd singing along to her early hit “Be The One.”

While not entirely spontaneous, this callback to her 2017 Glastonbury performance was marked by genuine joy as she climbed the fences to connect face-to-face with her fans.

Dua Lipa’s headline slot at Glastonbury was a testament to her hard work and talent, showcasing her ability to deliver a powerful and memorable performance on one of the world’s biggest stages.
