Chris Evans may have hung up the super-suit, but Captain America is making a comeback with a familiar face.

The upcoming movie, Captain America: Brave New World, will feature Anthony Mackie reprising his role as Sam Wilson, also known as the Falcon. Now, Wilson takes on the mantle of Captain America.

New Captain America Takes the Lead

The trailer for the fourth Captain America movie, released in July 2024, showcases Wilson wielding the legendary shield and embracing his new role.

The trailer hints at tensions between Wilson and the newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, played by Harrison Ford in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Wilson grapples with the decision to work with the U.S. government again after previously siding with Steve Rogers against them.

According to the synopsis from Marvel Studios, “After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident.

He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.” The film promises to deliver high-stakes action and intrigue as Wilson navigates his new responsibilities as Captain America.

Release Date

Captain America: Brave New World is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2025. Initially scheduled for a July 26, 2024 release, the movie was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023. As a result, Disney reshuffled its Marvel movie release dates.

Deadpool & Wolverine took over Captain America’s July slot, moving from May 2024, while the Mackie-led movie was pushed seven months into the spot originally occupied by Mahershala Ali’s Blade, now slated for a later release in 2025.

Fans eagerly await the return of Captain America in this new chapter, with Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson at the helm, ready to face global challenges and uphold the legacy of the iconic superhero.
