During the June 20 episode of The Kardashians, Kim shared exciting news with her friends: she has successfully sold a comedy movie to Netflix. The film, The Fifth Wheel, will feature Kim, 43, in a leading role and as a producer, marking a notable shift in her professional journey.

Surprising Career Turn

In a confessional segment, Kim expressed her surprise at this new direction in her career. “I was not expecting this career turn, it really did take me by surprise,” she admitted.

Kim credited her agent, Brad Slater, for his support and belief in her capabilities, emphasizing the importance of having a dedicated advocate in one’s professional life. “You want a Brad Slater in your corner, he thinks the world of me,” she added.

Nervous Beginnings

Kim revealed that the journey to getting The Fifth Wheel picked up was nerve-wracking. It was her first time pitching a movie idea to studios, an experience that left her feeling apprehensive. “If it happens and it works out, I will feel really accomplished and fulfilled, but who knows?” she said.

Describing the film as a blend of The Hangover, Bridesmaids, and First Wives Club, Kim acknowledged her inexperience in this new venture, saying, “This is just new to me, I’m a little bit green to this.”

Positive Reception and Rising Pressure

Once the offers started coming in, Kim’s initial nerves began to subside. She recalled how all five studios she pitched to responded with offers within 20 minutes. “It was really cool,” she noted. However, with the positive reception came a new wave of pressure.

“The offers they’re bringing my way, I’m like, ‘You think I can do that? I can’t do that,'” she confessed. The realization that she had to deliver on these expectations made her anxious. “I’m tripping the f— out low key because I have to really do this and I have to deliver,” she said.

Balancing New Demands

As Kim adjusted to the demands of her new roles as producer and lead actress, she joked about the sacrifices she would have to make. “I’ll have to give up sleep,” she quipped, but assured that her looks would not suffer.

“I can do a movie a year, I’ve got about 10 years where I still look good, so that’s all I’ve got in me and then I’ll take some time off,” she said, outlining her ambitious 10-year plan.

Kim also reflected on the physical and emotional demands of acting, humorously noting, “I feel like you need less Botox for more emotion and I don’t have it. I’m not gonna be gaining 500 lbs. for a role… that’s not where I need to be. How am I gonna cry? How am I gonna be scared out of my mind?”
