Behind the Camera:

During the season 4 premiere of Kevin Hart’s Hart to Heart, Ben Affleck, 51, candidly discussed his preference for working behind the camera rather than in front of it.

He described himself as a “director” and confessed that he’s “a little bit shy,” despite his extensive acting career. Affleck revealed, “I also don’t like a lot of attention,” adding that this discomfort often leads to misunderstandings about his demeanor in public.

Public Attention:

Affleck contrasted his reaction to public attention with that of his wife, Jennifer Lopez. He noted that while he doesn’t mind being photographed at public events, he is more protective of his privacy in everyday situations.

“This why people see me [and] they’re like, ‘Well, this dude always mad…’ Because somebody has their camera and sticking to my face,” he explained. “I don’t mind you taking my picture about a club, a premiere, whatever. My wife, I don’t give a f—. Go ahead. Knock yourself out. I don’t notice you,” he added. However, he emphasized that his children’s privacy is off-limits.

Family Life:

Affleck shares three children—Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12—with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, 52. He is also stepdad to Lopez’s 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony.

Fan Reactions:

Affleck remarked on the stark difference in fan reactions to him versus Lopez. He shared that while people might acknowledge him with a casual compliment about his movies, their reaction to Lopez is overwhelmingly enthusiastic.

“We went somewhere with [Jennifer]—I can’t remember because she’s so famous, and she creates this—people love her. And she really represents something important to people,” he explained. “[To me,] people are like, ‘Hey, I like your movie,’ and then they’re like ‘AHHHH! J-LO!'” he exclaimed.

Times Square Anecdote:

Affleck recounted a family outing in Times Square that highlighted Lopez’s immense popularity. While navigating the crowded area on their way to a play, Lopez was instantly swarmed by fans.

“We get out of the car, we were going to a play, and I was like, ‘F— it, babe, we’re going to be late, we gotta walk a block and a half.’ [Lopez] was like, ‘Alright,’ she didn’t say s—,” he shared, illustrating her calm demeanor amidst the frenzy.

Affleck’s reflections provide a glimpse into the dynamics of his public and private life, balancing his own preference for privacy with the widespread adoration his wife receives.
