Jennifer Lopez made a stunning appearance in Los Angeles to promote her latest film, Atlas. The 54-year-old actress-singer posed on the red carpet at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on May 20. 

Notably, she was wearing her wedding ring amidst ongoing reports of marital tension with her husband, Ben Affleck.

Social Media Presence

Lopez shared her excitement on Instagram, posting a Reel that captured her smiling and engaging with photographers on the red carpet.

Ben Affleck’s Absence

Ben Affleck, 51, did not attend the premiere due to his filming commitments for The Accountant 2. Despite their absence from each other’s public events, the couple has been seen wearing their wedding rings and smiling together over the weekend.

However, multiple sources have reported to PEOPLE that there is strain in their relationship.

Different Approaches to Media Attention

An insider explained that the couple’s differing attitudes towards media attention contribute to their tension. “Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach,” the source said.

Marriage History

Lopez and Affleck’s relationship has been a rollercoaster. They married in 2022, two decades after calling off their initial engagement. Currently, they are living separately in Los Angeles, further fueling speculation about their marital difficulties.

About Atlas

In her new Netflix sci-fi action film Atlas, Lopez plays Atlas Shepherd, a data analyst with a distrust of artificial intelligence. The plot follows her mission to capture a renegade robot with whom she shares a mysterious past, ultimately needing to trust AI to save humanity. 

Directed by Brad Peyton and written by Leo Sardarian and Aron Eli Coleite, the film also stars Simu Liu, Sterling K. Brown, Gregory James Cohan, Abraham Popoola, Lana Parrilla, and Mark Strong.

Lopez’s Emotional Connection to Atlas

Lopez, who also co-produced Atlas, shared her deep connection to the story in a behind-the-scenes video. “The first time I read the script for Atlas, I felt very passionately about the story and particularly the friendship story at the core of it,” she said. 

“At the end of it, I was literally sobbing.” She highlighted that while Atlas is a big action movie, it also features an emotional narrative centered on love and friendship.

Release Date

Atlas is set to premiere on Netflix on May 24.
