Arrest and Postponement

Nicki Minaj has apologized to her fans after postponing a concert in Manchester due to her arrest in the Netherlands.

The 41-year-old rapper was scheduled to perform at the Co-op Live arena on Saturday but had to cancel at the last minute after being detained on suspicion of drug exportation. Minaj was fined €350 (£300; $380) by Dutch police and subsequently allowed to continue her journey.

Rescheduled Concert

Minaj announced that she will now perform at the Manchester venue next Monday. She posted on social media, “I apologize for all the inconvenience this has caused.

I really hope you can make the June 3rd show. It’ll be really special.” She also mentioned that Ticketmaster would contact fans who had tickets for the canceled show, describing them as a “class act.”

Detention Details

Minaj spent five to six hours in custody before being allowed to fly from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport. Dutch prosecutors reported she was carrying 30 to 100 grams of cannabis, though Minaj claimed the “pre-rolls” belonged to her security guard.

Despite the Netherlands’ policy of tolerance towards small amounts of some drugs, it remains technically illegal to possess, sell, or produce drugs in the country.

Minaj’s Response

On X (formerly Twitter), Minaj expressed her frustration, stating, “I’ll have the lawyers and god take it from here tho. They sure did know exactly how to hurt me today but this too, shall pass.”

Fan Reactions

Approximately 20,000 fans were in the Co-op arena waiting for the show to start when promoter Live Nation announced the postponement around 21:40 BST. Many of Minaj’s fans, known as the Barbz, were upset after waiting for hours and traveling from various parts of the country.

Birmingham Performance

Despite the setback, Minaj continued her Pink Friday 2 world tour with a performance in Birmingham on Sunday night.

She expressed her gratitude to her fans at the Resorts World Arena, saying, “The most important thing was to say from the bottom of my heart, thank you for being here tonight.”

Conclusion

Minaj’s arrest and the subsequent postponement of her Manchester concert caused significant disruption and disappointment among her fans. However, her quick rescheduling of the show and heartfelt apologies demonstrate her commitment to her fans and her tour.
