Banana Bread and Belly Laughs : The Nice & Sweet Bakery Collaboration With Blake Webber

Nice & Sweet bakery in Los Angeles is the whimsical sanctuary where guests come to enjoy their morning coffee and a home-made morning treat. On April 26, 2024, the beloved Sunset bakery will host its first ever collaboration with comedian, Aristotle “Blake” Webber – marking a new era in the bakeries history. The collaboration sprouts from the youthful friendship shared between Nice & Sweet’s Head Chef, Chris Sayegh, and comedian Blake Webber. The creatives first crossed paths while working on content for a project in 2016 –  since then, their bond has only deepened, resulting in a quirky banana-themed collaboration at Nice & Sweet Bakery.

“I think that people are really going to love this collaboration, not only because they get to watch us make hilarious content, but because the banana bread is absolutely bananas – no pun intended,” says Chris. The star of the show is the gluten-free banana bread loaf, a childhood favorite of Blake’s, elevated to gourmet status with a touch of culinary finesse by Chef Chris. Inspired by fond memories of his mother’s weekend baking, Blake envisioned a gluten-free version of this classic treat, and Chris, always up for a challenge, added his culinary expertise to the mix. “We wanted it to be fun, non-pretentious, and, most importantly, delicious,” Chris explains. “That’s what Nice & Sweet is all about.” The result is a delectable masterpiece that defies expectations.

This first-of-its kind collaboration is not only about the food – the collaboration between Chris and Blake goes beyond the kitchen, spilling over into their comedic escapades captured on camera. From impromptu banana costume antics to unexpected peelings (yes, you read that right), their infectious chemistry is undeniable. “We genuinely have fun with one another,” Chris muses. For Blake, comedy is not just a profession, but a lifelong passion that began in childhood, and blossomed into a full-fledged career. To him, working with enthusiastic people like Chris is invigorating, sparking a sense of purpose in him and making every project an adventure.

As for Nice & Sweet, the collaboration with Blake is just the beginning of an exciting journey. With plans for future collaborations with an eclectic mix of personalities, including Sean MacDonald, Mike Bagale, and more – Chef Chris is eager to continue exploring his creativity with pastry innovation. “Each collaboration is a chance to bring something new and exciting to the table,” Chris says. “Whether it’s bouncing ideas off seasoned chefs or guiding less-experienced collaborators, the goal remains the same: to create treats that bring joy to people’s lives.”

For comedian @blakewebber, the Nice & Sweet collaboration is about turning childhood nostalgia into an edible delight, one gluten-free banana bread at a time. “There’s just a groove you find yourself in during a collaboration that gives you a sense of higher purpose and makes the project really exciting!” Blake exclaims, reflecting on his experience with chef Chris at Nice & Sweet. This collaboration marked his first foray into the world of food content, and with Chris by his side, it was nothing short of thrilling.

From brainstorming sessions filled with puns and punchlines to on-camera antics involving banana costumes and peelings, Blake and Chris infused their signature brand of humor into every aspect of the project. With each bite, customers will not only savor the flavors, but also experience a taste of the laughter and camaraderie that define Nice & Sweet bakery. So, if you find yourself in Los Angeles craving a sweet treat with a true heartfelt spirit, look no further than Nice & Sweet bakery – where you can enjoy Chris and Blake’s gluten-free banana bread on April 26th.
