Karelina, who became a US citizen in 2021, entered Russia on January 2nd. The FSB’s statement implicates her in collecting funds used for purchasing medical supplies, equipment, weapons, and ammunition for Ukraine’s war efforts.

In Russia, treason carries severe penalties, with a potential sentence of up to 20 years in prison. Currently, Karelina is detained under a pre-trial custody order.
