“When I was allowed to re-audition, it was when he was out of the picture,” Chris said, saying that he and his brother never directly competed for the MCU role simultaneously.

In a recent TikTok video from Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth disclosed that both he and his younger brother, Liam Hemsworth, were considered for the role of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Chris, who ultimately portrayed the “God of Thunder” from 2011 to 2022, revealed that Liam also auditioned for the iconic role.

Sibling Rivalry and Support

Chris, 40, admitted during a lie detector test for the publication that while Liam, 34, auditioned for the role, he wasn’t initially concerned about losing it to his brother.

Despite feeling a tinge of jealousy, Chris expressed excitement for Liam. However, Chris’s audition process fluctuated, with both brothers having their chances at different times.

Unlikely Role Reversals

When asked if there was ever a role of Liam’s that he wished he could have portrayed, Chris denied any such desires. However, the interviewer playfully suggested “The Last Song,” a 2010 romantic drama starring Liam and Miley Cyrus.

Chris laughed off the idea, indicating that Liam’s life would have taken a different trajectory had he taken on the role. The polygraph examiner deemed Chris’s response “inconclusive,” prompting him to confirm his lack of interest in the film.

Sibling Dynamics and Career Paths

The candid revelation sheds light on the dynamic between the Hemsworth brothers in the competitive world of Hollywood.

Despite both being talented actors, their career paths have led them in different directions, with Chris becoming a Marvel superstar while Liam pursued diverse roles in film and television.
